It is with great pleasure we announce our new leaders of CABA commencing January
1, 2013, and the upcoming election for the position of Vice President (U.S.)
from a field of 3 wonderfully talented attorneys (see below to vote).

1) YOUR NEW CABA LEADERS

President: Sarah Robertson (Partner, Dorsey & Whitney – NYC)
Co-V.P. (Canada): Daniel Bourque (Senior Corporate Counsel & CPO, Xerox Canada – Toronto) & Monique Couture (Partner, Gowlings - Ottawa)
Secretary Treasurer: Felicia Zeidman (NPZ Law Group – NY/NJ)

PLEASE REACH OUT AND CONGRATULATE YOUR NEW BOARD!

2) ELECTION FOR V.P (U.S.)

We have 3 terrific candidates for this position, as follows:

Patrick McDonnell (Buffalo, NY)
Faith Nouri (Huntington Beach, CA/Vancouver, BC)
Stanley Silverstone (White Plains, NY)

Each candidate has provided a brief commentary in connection with his/her candidacy for VP (US) as noted below. Please vote for one of these individuals
by sending an email to president@canambar.com with your choice by the close of FRIDAY DECEMBER 7, 2012.

PATRICK MCDONNELL

“When I received your notice about an opening position for vice president of
the Canadian American Bar Association I was surprisingly and excitedly pleased.

When I first met members of the CABA in Toronto during a legal training session
between Canada and the United States, I immediately wanted to get involved with
the organization. I needed to wait until my Call to the Bar which became a
reality on June 15, 2012.

I would like to see the CABA develop into a first-rate legal organization
earning the respect and admiration of the legal profession on both sides of the
border. I am certainly familiar with the workings of the American and Canadian
Bar Associations as well as the New York State and Ontario Bar Associations of
which I am a member. I believe the CABA has a greater potential to reach issues
affecting both venues of jurisdiction than these other highly respected
organizations because it deals with both jurisdictions. Increasingly we are
seeing cross-border applications of the law. With the globalization of
commerce, NAFTA, conflicts of law issues, and inter-jurisdictional sharing of
technology, resources and personnel, I believe the time is optimal to make the
CABA well-known and a part of the legal profession whose members look to for
information and assistance.

I would be honored to be elected to the position of Vice-President of the
Canadian American Bar Association.”

“I have been practicing law in New York since 1989, after growing up in
Toronto, and attending University of Toronto and Dalhousie Law School. I am
admitted to the bars of Ontario and New York. For the past 14 years, I have
been with a primarily labor and employment firm in White Plains, New York. When
I received the offer to join the Canadian American Bar Association in April
2009, I joined immediately, as I thought that it was a great way to connect
lawyers with common cross-border backgrounds. For three years I have seen the
organization grow and have enjoyed meeting members at New York City events. I
would be honored to have the opportunity to help the Association continue to
grow in both countries, and to expand the Association’s social, networking,
and educational functions to serve the membership.”
